2008 North American Nationals Entries The Irish Dancing Teacher's Association of North America ( http://www..idtana.net ) was founded in 1964 with the goal of assuring teacher and adjudicator competency, as well as standardizing the ever growing number of competitions held throughout North America . Through the efforts of many dedicated Irish dancing teachers, the IDTANA has grown to over 500 teaching members with schools throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. IDTANA now oversees seven regional branches, with each region having the opportunity to host this event. In 2008 The New England Region ( http://idtane.com ) has the honor of organizing every detail, both large and small of our much heralded championship event. As a non-profit organization, the IDTANA is summarily dedicated to the preservation and propagation of Irish culture, not only via this very unique performing art of Irish dance, but also byway of nurturing the music, literature, and language of Ireland . Proceeds from hosting the North American Irish Dance Championships are used to provide continued financial support of various arts curriculums featuring Irish Dance programs, as well as providing scholarships to college bound and college enrolled dancers. We also provide funding to less financially privileged dancers, allowing them to represent North America at the World Irish Dancing Championships annually. Over the past forty-three years, our organization, through dance, has fostered culture, scholarship, and good sportsmanship while giving children an appreciation of who they are and what they can achieve in the world of tomorrow. These core values become an integral part of a child's character |
